Today we worked hard on 3D shapes. We were able to match up real objects to different shapes.
We are doing AWESOME in music! We are ready for our show and are now going to make props for our songs!
Thank you to all our Volunteers for Building Things! We now have enough people to help out! I will send an email to you shortly!

We played a flower game today on the computer! We had to make sure our flower had enough water, heat and light to grow. We still haven't won!!! We will keep trying. On a positive note, our grass and beans are growing GREAT!!!!!
Here is the link for you to play at home!

Sprouting Seed
Our bean seed is sprouting! We are going to plant it soon. Our grass is growing so tall! Mrs. Nelson used a weed wacker to cut it down. (just kidding she just used scissors!)
We had Inline Skating today and we are getting really good at getting all our equipment on really fast! We are turning out to be excellent inline skaters.
Mr. Hebert came and read us a silly story today! "The Book With No Pictures" It is our favourite book!
Please continue to sign and send in field trip money and forms for our Science Building Things in-school field trip. We are still in need of some volunteers!
Enjoy the sunshine!!!!

We had a great time at Math Showcase last night! Thank you for everyone who came and participated! It was great to see you all.
With an early dismissal day, we didn't have Library time so no one was able to get new books.
We should all have some yellow cards that are in our home reading folder or our home folder. I just want to clarify with parents what these cards are for. We are practicing reading these words AND spelling them. If your child reads the word please put a check mark. 1 for every day! If your child can then spell the word, put another check mark. 1 for everyday!
These are words that your child individually needs to work on. They come from their spelling review and their work. Thank you for practicing these words with your child. They are a great help for the reading and spelling abilities.
We have Inline Skating on Monday - please bring back your helmets if you took them home for the weekend!
Field Trip forms are coming in and we are so excited to be able to have Teacher's Pet come into our classroom and share Building Things for our Science curriculum on May 5th. We need 5 Volunteers in total. It will be difficult for us to run this program without more volunteers! It is from 9-11 am on Tuesday May 5th. We hope you can join us!
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

We Are Silent
This morning we participated in "WE ARE SILENT" We did our work and we didn't talk. Sometimes Mrs. Nelson had to talk, but we all did a great job in being quiet. The "We Are Silent" was to raise awareness for 3 reasons! Those reasons are for those who are unable to go to school, who are in poverty and for those who are bullied.
We learned that we can stay silent and do work. And most of us got our work done also! It was a quiet morning but we enjoyed raising awareness. We also read a story about a boy who was forced to work in a carpet factory and he was not allowed to leave. It was very sad.
This afternoon we planted grass! We are excited to see it grow!!!!!
There is popcorn for sale again tomorrow. $2 per bag.
We did GREAT at Alien Inline Skating today! We are getting really good!!!

Late Post
I apologize for the late post. We had an eventful day today! We had a discussion with the whole class about not sticking our arms, legs, heads or anything else into holes. We had one student get stuck a little bit, but they are fine and all is well!
Inline Skating was today and we had a BLAST!!!! Some of us took awhile to get our gear on, but we will get quicker I am sure! We will have some Grade 5 helpers tomorrow.
We looked at the inside of a seed today and saw the tiny plant (embryo), the cotyledon (plant food) and we took the skin (seed coat) off. It was all really cool! We also made predictions about which seeds will grow best out of our 4 bags. Have your child tell you about our different bags.
We almost missed music today because of our wonky schedule but Mr. Rattan came and got us. We are learning a fun song! Ask me about it!

Skating Starts Tomorrow!
We have all our Permission Forms!!! Thank you!!!!
Each student needs a helmet...any kind of helmet will do! Please send one with your child so that they can participate. If your child does not have a helmet, they may not be able to join us, because they only have a few helmets on hand. By sending one, we ensure that your child can participate.
Students also need to remember socks. So if they wear sandals to school, please send a pair of socks in their backpack.
Today we started our new Science Unit: Taking Care of Plants and Animals. We learned about beans and what is inside a bean. We are starting to grow some beans in class.
