Happy Friday

Today we did a lot of fun poem activities. We recorded ourselves on the iPads to hear how we read a poem. We learned that we need to know when to pause and stop while reading, so that we can take a breath and also so our reading sounds smooth.

Please remember that Monday is our Field Trip! We need to leave by 9am. We will eat a small snack before we go and then we will eat lunch when we get back. The weather should be nice....YEA!!!!

And as always we ended our week with a dance party "because we're happy"!!!!!

Have a wonderfully, warm weekend!!!

Noisy Monday!!!

We are working on being more quiet in class! It is still hard to follow directions, BUT we are working on it and as Mrs. Nelson always says, "It is ok to make mistakes, because then we learn from them."

We wrote in our journals about our Winter Scene and we read a new poem about our 5 Senses. Today was Grade 1 day in the Learning Commons, we coloured, played with Lego and played with Puppets. In PE some of us went on the climbing wall. We are very safe and do the right thing. We also had music!

Thursday January 8th, 2015

Mrs. Nelson was back today! We started gymnastics today in PE.

In Science we learned about the 5 senses and Mrs. Nelson shared with us some stories about someone she knows that is blind and another person that she knows who is deaf. We think that it would be difficult to lose one of our senses.

We practiced our spelling words, which are: went, for, we, play, day! (sorry I didn't post them earlier)
We have a spelling review tomorrow! Practice them tonight!

We created a play about a new student coming to our classroom and then we shared it with our class.

We also went to Library and took out a new book. Please remember to bring it back next Wednesday!

Wednesday January 7th, 2015

I've been sick the last couple of days, but here is a notice from Mr. Sadowsky about gymnastics.

Dear Parents:

On Thursday January 8th we will begin our gymnastics unit in our regularly scheduled physical education classes. This unit lasts 2.5 weeks and will lead into our mission impossible week. To begin this unit, we review safety procedures with each class. Students in elementary school are not expected to change for physical education. When participating in gymnastics we ask students to be dressed appropriately and prepared to participate. We ask you to consider the following;

• Clothing that allows freedom of movement (no special uniforms or outfits are required. Sweats and a t-shirt work best).

• Loose fitting/baggy clothing may get caught on equipment when climbing.

• Tucking shirts in will help to prevent an accident.

• All jewelry that could get caught on equipment needs to be removed (left in classrooms or at home). eg. Watches, rings, necklaces, bracelets etc.

• Students with long hair need to have their hair tied back. Tying hair back with elastics or scrunchies is recommended.

• Students may wear shorts under clothing if they wish.

• Students continue to wear indoor running shoes (1st preference). Students may also participate in bare feet or with gymnastics slippers.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you in advance for your understanding in helping to assist with the safety of our students.

Sincerely,

G, Sadowsky

Happy New Year!

First I want to apologize for not posting a final December blog! I thought I pushed submit, but I guess my computer played a funny trick on me! I hope you all had a wonderful break and stayed cozy and warm!

Today was a CRAZY first day back to school! During our Math lesson, we had a fire drill and had to go to St. Bedes to stay warm. Please see the notice coming home!

We talked a lot about our break and we listened to some stories. We had PE and music and chatted about how we need to behave in class and school to be a good citizen!

Notes:
See Notice on Fire Drill today!
Library Thursday - we will get new books
