1 more day!!!!
1 more day until Spring Break for you all! We are so excited for a relaxing time. I hope you are all doing something fun and exciting!

Enjoy the Sunshine!!!!
This was a great week! We had a fantastic performance this morning from Red Sky Production. It was called "Mistatim" It was about friendship! It was amazing!
We had our spelling review this morning and worked on Math!

Spring's Coming
A bunch of us worked on Raz Kids this morning! Please go on Raz Kids with your child to see what they are reading. Have them read to you even. It is a great resource to help your child read!
I will still accept scholastic orders, but please know any future orders may not be received until after Spring Break.
Continue to study your spelling words. Your child brought home a list of their words, but they are also on the blog.
There is a Family Dance tomorrow, Thursday, March 12th at 6pm. There will be snacks and drinks for sale at the dance. I hope to see you all there.
If your child has "yellow" words, please practice saying and/or spelling these words with them daily. It will enhance their reading ability. Give a little check mark once the say it and another if they can spell it!

A Handy Way to Measure!
Today we used our hands to measure lots of things in our classroom. Tomorrow we are going to use our feet....stinky!!!! We will keep our shoes on, thank goodness!

Sleepy Monday
Everyone seemed a bit sleepy today. It is amazing the difference that one hour makes. Let's all try and get to bed on time tonight so we have more energy tomorrow.
We have new word wall words. Our new words are:

We used a non-standard unit of measure, an inchworm, to measure a variety of objects in our classroom. This was a challenge for some of us to correctly use our inchworm. We will keep practicing.
In PE we did some shooting drills with the soft dodge balls in gym. At the end of the class we got to shoot at the baskets.

No More Popcorn!
The Gr. 6 Mavericks SOLD OUT of popcorn today! Some kids did not receive popcorn, so we have decided to have another Popcorn Day next Friday!!!!
Flavours are White Cheddar, Caramel, Jalapeno Jack and Dill Pickle. Bags of popcorn will be $2.00.
Scholastic order forms were sent home yesterday! Please have them back by March 11th so that I can order them and have them back (fingers crossed) before Spring Break!
Continue to read for "Reading! Give it a Shot!" Students are reading lots and earning lots of Harvey the Hound trading cards. Please remember to record it on their sheet! If you need another one, please send a note!

We are bringing home HOMEWORK!!!! It is about my 5 Senses! I chose a sense and have to write about how to take care of it! I can draw pictures too! This is a rough copy, so it doesn't have to look pretty right now!
If you forgot your Jump Rope forms they are being picked up first thing in the morning and so you could probably sneak them in :)
We learned about non-standard forms of measurement! Ask me what one form of non-standard measurement is.
We are getting really good a dribbling a basketball! We may make it to the NBA!!!!

How tall are you?
Today we started our Measurement Unit in Math! We measured how tall we each are and who is about the same height and who is the tallest and who is the shortest in our class. But we do not have anyone who is the shortest in all of Grade 1.
